The following is a message from the Idaho Storm Soccer Club Board:
Hi Storm Families:
It seems that each new day brings with it news of changes we have never been through before. I’m sure you’ve been watching the news and your inbox daily with all that is happening.
As of right now- we have had two reported cases of COVID-19 in Idaho. The cases appear to have self quarantined, but nevertheless we at Storm, like all organizations, are wondering what the right thing to do is. This is uncharted territory for all of us.
As shown in the below communication from IYSA and as you may have heard, the league has suspended games until March 30th and will continue to monitor the situation. The school district has remained open so far and given that stance to-date, the Storm Board has decided that the best thing to do is to allow Coaches and Team Managers to decide what is best for their team as far as practices go. If you decide to hold practices in the next two weeks, please follow the following guidelines:
- Communicate with your parents/teams about your decision to hold practices
- Encourage any child who has had symptoms of upper respiratory infections to stay home
- Encourage all players to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after practice
It is important to note that our priority, first and foremost, is the safety of our players and families. This being the case, we ultimately defer to parents and understand completely if they choose not to attend practice sessions. Such decisions should be up to the parents with 100% backing from the Club. If practices are held and not attended, there is absolutely no issue or repercussion to that decision.
As noted above, we are not aware of school closures at this point in time. However, should the school district decide to cancel school, we as a Club will follow that lead and no practice sessions will be held during such closure.
We will continue to monitor this very closely and communicate as necessary. We sincerely wish you all the best in staying safe during these uncertain times.
Sincerely, Idaho Storm Soccer Club Board
