Rich Christensen - Head Coach
After graduating college, Coach Rich served for 10 years (6 active, 4 reserve) in the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Major. While serving in the Reserves, he earned a Law Degree. Shortly after law school Coach Rich decided to become a Realtor and has truly enjoyed what he does for the past several years.
Coach Rich has loved the game since he was four years old when he joined his first team, “The Care Bears.” Like most players, he started out in the local recreation leagues before joining competitive teams for tournaments and US Club Soccer. Coach Rich also is an avid fan of the English Premier League.
When his son was seven, the same recreational league Coach Rich grew up in asked if he would coach and he immediately knew it was his turn to give back. Coach Rich had many amazing coaches that knew nothing about soccer initially, but devoted a lot of time and effort to teaching young boys this foreign sport we call Soccer.
From the start, Coach Rich was a natural leading his first recreational team to league champions. He quickly repeated this success a year later and was then nominated to coach the competitive teams of AYSO Region 2. In total, he spent five years coaching both recreational and competitive soccer. In the process, Coach Rich earned his USSF License D and is committed to earning a License C.
Coach Rich believes the game of Soccer is for all kids. No matter your background, you should have a place on the pitch. “Football is the only sport where you put people together, it doesn’t matter if you are rich, or poor, or black, or white. It is one nation. This is the beauty of football.” -Pele
